Call the Camp Office for more information, (541) 451-4270

The course is equipped with eighteen MACH-I baskets and concrete tee pads.   (Plan on wearing cleats during the rainy season).  The course layout is very tight.   Lot's of low, straight shots with very unforgiving trees on either side of the fairways.  Accurate golfers will probably do better than the "big-arm" golfers on this course.

Dexter State Park, Eugene, Oregon

Directions:  (On-line directions)  Take I-5 south or north to just south of Eugene and the exit for Hwy 58/Oakridge-Klamath Falls, (Exit 188A).  Head east for 16 miles on Hwy 58 to Dexter State Park.  The park entrance is before you get to the lake and on the left.  Once in the park veer to the right and park in the first two parking lots.  The tee for hole one is marked by a white rock buried level with the ground between the second and third parking lots and faces the lake towards the dam.  There will be a sign marking hole one soon.  The basket sits under a big oak.  You should be able to find the next tee and hole and follow through the woods.

Information:  Installed by volunteering members of the Eugene Disc Golf Club this brand new course has eighteen MACH-III baskets with a practice basket coming soon.  Tee pads are all concrete. The course climbs up and down a low wooded ridge and into the woods below Dexter dam.  It also plays into some open mowed fields above the dam in the manicured part of the park.  There are several elevated tees as well as several lower tees with uphill shots.  You play from open fairways into tight and narrow wooded fairways and then back out into the open fields again.  The views of the lake with the mountains in the background are used excellently as backdrops on several holes.  The only O.B. (Out-of Bounds) rule is if you cross the edge of a road, regardless of whether you land on grass on the other side, it is O.B.  This should only really come into play on hole 11.  The only other hazard is to watch for traffic because the course has walk-outs that cross the park road in several places.  This course is in the ground as a direct result of close to 1,000 hours of volunteer work on the part of Eugene Club members!  Nice job guys!  Visit this state park's web site.

Watch for POISON OAK!  It'll be around for a while.  Plans are to spray and clear debris throughout the summer, but still, beware of the evil POAK  and stinging nettles!

Alcohol is permitted in the park, but drunkenness is not.  Please use common sense.  Please don't litter the course with cigarette butts or beer bottles and cans.  In the summer when it's dry, smoking may be banned altogether in the wooded areas of the park.  Dogs must be on a leash at all times.

Camping is available across the street from the park at Dexter Shores (541-937-3711).  RV hookups, showers, bathrooms & tent spaces.

For additional information, call the park directly at: (541) 937-1173.  Or call local golfers Bruce Sisson (541-485-3275) or Roller-Bob (541-485-1886).  (Visit Dexter State Park on-line).
