228th SW - Vashon, Wa 98070
| Course info:
9 Innova baskets; natural tees, but
many of them are located on paved surfaces; the course is installed on
property with several tiers so some modest
terrain elevation adds to the fun.
The new course on Vashon Island near Seattle is located on the old "Burton School" grounds and is open to the public for daily use. A fun little course and definitely worth the trip out to the island. On clear days enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Raineer and inner Quartermaster Harbor. There are no course signs, tee pads, trash cans, nor a bulletin board - yet... I would suggest bringing a course map until you learn the course, but the baskets are numbered so you should have no problems finding your way around the course. Many of the tee areas were planned around existing paved areas and roads, so it's very playable just as it is. Tee signs and trash cans will be added as
time and funds permit. |
| Driving instructions: Vashon Island is
accessible from Fauntleroy (West Seattle), Southworth (Port Orchard), and
Pt. Defiance (North Tacoma) for bike and car traffic. There's also a
limited-hour passenger/bicycle ferry during the week from the downtown
Seattle terminal (the passenger boat dock is one block south of the main
terminal).
Taking the bus: Bus number 54 will take you to the Fauntleroy dock, and bus number 118 will actually take you from downtown right to the course. (Hint: the course is located one block south of the Judd Creek bridge, on the west side of the main highway. So if you take the 118, just get off after the bridge - it's the only bridge on the island). Check the bus schedule for current bus availability and times.
